An Enjoyable Trip to Australia
Saying goodbye to Canberra, the capital of Australia ,we set out for Sydney ,once the host city of 2000 Olympic Games. After four hours’ride , we got there.
Our first stop was Sydney Opera House, which is opposite to the Harbor Bridge. These two structures were inter-decorated, and their magnificence was almost beyond expression. The bizarre structure of Opera House struck me most. It is composed of ten parts, And each is like a piece of orange. But it is a pity that we couldn’t go inside.
Leaving the Opera House, we drove on to the seashore. I heard the roaring sea even before we saw it. The shouts seemed rather frightening, testing my nerves. When I came nearer, the boundless sea entered my view. The waves were surging high as mountains, displaying the manly beauty. In the sky, there were clouds freely floating around, and occasionally, seagulls fleeted across the sea, shrieking sadly. Various sounds of the sea were composed of an orchestra symphony, or some classic music, making all of us intoxicated. We were staying there, watching, listening, and musing, all getting drunken in the picturesque scene. There were some brave men surfing in the sea. I couldn’t help admiring them.
How time flew! 15 days passed quickly and we had to go back to China. The trip was enjoyable, and the Australians were amiable. I hope that I could go there again one day!

On Beauty
Beauty is power; a smile is its sword.
Beauty is the first present nature gives to women, and the first it takes away.
Beauty is truth, truth is beauty.
Everything ought to be beautiful in a human being: face, dress, soul and ideas.
That which is striking and beautiful is not always good, but that which is good is always beautiful.
Beauty is but skin deep.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
A riddle:
You are in your car on a straight country road. The car is headed south. How could you drive the car for a mile and, without turning, find yourself north of where you started?
Answer: Just back up for a mile.
A joke:
How Did the Fillings Get Inside
When the waitress found a foreigner making a curious study of the Chinese dumplings he was eating, she thought there was something wrong and went up to ask him politely.
“What can I do for you, sir?”
“Well, I’m wondering how the fillings got inside the dumpling. I can’t find any openings,” he said in a puzzle.

Good Memory
Three old ladies are sitting in a diner, chatting about various(各种各样的) things.
One lady says, “You know, I’m getting really forgetful. This morning, I was standing at the top of the stairs, and I couldn’t remember whether I had just come up or was about to go down.”
The second lady says, “You think that’s bad? The other day, I was sitting on the edge of my bed, and I couldn’t remember whether I was going to bed or had just woken up.”
The third lady smiles with pleasure. “Well, my memory’s just as good as it’s always been, knock on wood.” She raps(敲击)the table. With a startled(吃惊) look on her face, she asks, “Who’s there?”
Thorn up Copies
A young engineer was leaving the office at 6:00 pm when he found the CEO standing in front of a shredder(碎纸机)with a price of paper in his hand.
“Listen,’ said the CEO, “this is important and my secretary has left. Can you make this thing work ?”
“Certainly.” Said the young engineer. He turned the machine on, put the paper in, and pressed the start button.
“Excellent, excellent !” said the CEO as his paper disappeared inside the machine. “I just need one copy.”

Food for Us and Them
Q: Why do bees make honey ?
A: We know that bees have been producing honey for at least 150 million years. They store it for food during the long winter months. When the air is cold and there’s snow on the ground, flowers don’t bloom so that there is little or no nectar(花蜜) for the bees. Some bees produce far more honey than the hive(一窝蜜蜂) can eat. Then, humans can take the extra amount.
